Together with Air so Pure we are working on a healthier and greener learning environment, this time for primary school de Zon in De Kwakel.
On Monday, November 12, we visited primary school de Zon, to teach the children about air purifying plants. Afterwards, The pupils could choose plants themselves and give them a nice spot in de classroom. Our E-commerce manager Ramon van Kessel provided this informative morning for the pupils.
‘In this way, our pupils learn more about the functioning of the plants and can immediately experience this in their own classroom. The classrooms are now a bit more atmospheric and at the same time healthier’, says Maaike Berbee, director of Basiscchool de Zon.
The reason for this initiative was a consultation between the parent counsil of de Zon and OZ Planten, with the aim of making the school a bit healthier and greener. In order to finance part of the project ‘Plant in de klas’, the pupils of de Zon organized a ‘bottle deposit action’, which raised €162,-. Thanks to supermarket the Coop in de Kwakel this amount has been supplemented to € 200.-.
Grower association Air so Pure, partner of OZ Planten reacted very enthusiastically to the initiative and sponsored the air-purifying plants. OZ Planten took care of the so-called watering systems in which the plants were placed. Because of these systems the plants only need water every two to three weeks.
Outside of the classrooms, the other rooms in the school are now equipped with green plants. Mixt Creations, Jodeco Glass en Lechuza have made various pots, glassware and materials available to make Basisschool de Zon an even better work- and learning environment. Plants not only provide a healthier indoor climate, but also contribute to the well-being of the teachers and pupils.
