Spotted at the seasonal trade fair in Naaldwijk: Vireya “Saxon Blush”

The tropical Rhododendron, Vireya "Saxon Blush" is a plant that originated in Australia. He is therefore resistant to the high Australian temperatures. The plant has been selected to meet the European temperatures and is currently intended for temperatures up to 2 degrees. The Vireya "Saxon Blush" is therefore not hardy.
The best temperature to keep the plant is between 10 and 20 degrees. This makes it a houseplant, which can also be kept as a tub plant during spring / summer.

In the spring an abundance of buds appears at the Vireya from which coral-red flowers come. The flower shape is tubular and only open at the front. With this 'Saxon Blush' the flowers are peach-like in color.
This compact evergreen wintergreen rhododendron is about 70 cm high.
